German man has near-death-like experience with unusual elements

I went to bed at around 10 p.m. and, as far as I can remember, fell asleep quickly. Suddenly, I was fully awake and found myself outside of my body. At first, I was not very surprised or afraid, because I had experienced similar states before and remembered them.

In earlier experiences, I usually perceived wave-like movements, like a kind of curtain being pushed aside, after which I would see something like a film of another reality. But this time it was different. Some kind of force acted on my consciousness and pulled me out of my room, somewhere else. I can still feel it today.

There was also this thought that I was as small as an atom and incredibly fast. It felt like a roller coaster ride. Then I stood in front of this hideous being that I had already seen twice before. I shouted at it: “What do you want from me this time?” It pointed with its arm toward something like a staircase leading downward. So I went down the stairs. After a few steps, I saw a lake in front of me that shimmered blood-red.

Above this lake floated a stone platform. On it stood my girlfriend from my earthly life at that time, Siglinde, together with Christian, an acquaintance of ours, and with Erich and Melanie, a couple we used to spend time with. Melanie was holding a baby in her arms. I was shocked when I saw this and called out to them to come to the shore, because it looked very dangerous how this stone platform was floating above the lake and even swaying. But they did not follow me. Instead, they called back that everything was beautiful and that I could come to them. But I did not want to, especially since there was not much space on that platform. I watched as they moved farther and farther away from the shore.

Then I asked myself what I should do now. I no longer had a physical body, but it had to be somewhere. I wondered how I could return to it. Then it occurred to me that I could go back up the stairs to where I had come from. I looked around and noticed that the being was no longer there. I liked the idea, so I went back up the stairs. But suddenly, about halfway up, this dark being appeared in front of me again. I was very frightened at that moment, lost control, and fell down the stairs.

I ended up in darkness. Everything around me was dark. There was nowhere to go, no exit, no light, nothing. A moment later, I saw something. There were people drifting through this darkness as well. I wanted to make contact with them so that we could find a way out together, but I could not. I could pass through them, but they did not perceive me.

The fear grew stronger, and I had to admit to myself that I was responsible for the situation I was now in. I thought, you are now 22 years old and have ruined your life. You will probably drift through this darkness forever. “My God, I can’t go on.” When I thought that, I saw three points of light in the distance, arranged like a triangle. They looked like the lights of a train.

At first, I thought a train was coming. But these lights did not shine like beams. Instead, something approached me that looked like a mist that glowed by itself. This luminous mist approached my non-physical body from slightly below. When it reached about the same level as my non-physical body, it suddenly changed direction by 90 degrees upward and completely enveloped my body. When I saw this, I thought, why does it not come to my consciousness? But even though my consciousness was not inside this radiant, subtle mist, an incredible peace and harmony came over me, something that does not exist in the physical world.

It truly felt as if my non-physical body was united with our Creator. I saw my non-physical body shining within it. I saw my mouth moving as I spoke, and I saw myself listening attentively. I reflected on my life up to that point. I promised that I would change and stop using cannabis. When I made that promise, the luminous mist moved away from me.

I asked myself why it was leaving. I could no longer see my non-physical body either. I wanted to go with the light and called out to it: “Wait, stop! Take me with you!” But it moved farther away, becoming smaller, while the darkness around me grew again.

In my despair—I really wanted to go with it and not stay there—I called out: “What will happen to me now?” At that moment, the light and the darkness around me began to oscillate. At first slowly, then faster and faster, until it reached a peak and then slowed down again. It is difficult to describe. It was similar to moving up and down with waves on the ocean, while being able to see through everything down to the ground. The color blue appeared as well.

When the oscillation stopped, I could not believe what I saw. My mind at that time could not grasp it.

Suddenly, I saw the day of my wedding. I observed it for what felt like 10–15 seconds. The sky was bright blue, without a single cloud. My wife, whom I did not yet know in real life at that time, stood to my right. She was wearing a white veil and raised her hand in greeting. My future self stood there and looked upward, as if searching for something in the sky. I recognized my brother standing behind us in the doorway. Most of the other people I did not know, except for Elke. But where was her partner Helmut? And there was Ulrike, whom I had not seen for a long time. I heard birds and children laughing. I saw the entire square in front of the church, the mountain in the background, and the position of the sun.

After observing this scene for a while, I wondered how long I would have to keep watching it. Then everything began to oscillate again, briefly, and the vision moved away in space, or I moved away from it.

At that point, I no longer saw the light, only the wedding scene moving away. Then I was back in my room. Through the roof window, I could see that it was snowing. I was still outside my physical body, because from my bed, where my body was lying, I would not have been able to see that. Then I re-entered my physical body, and it felt as if a thousand volts rushed through my limbs. My body twitched briefly, and then I fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

The next morning, I woke up feeling very fit, but with many thoughts about what had happened during the night. What had happened? With all these thoughts, I went to work.

This wedding scene was about 4.5 years in the future, and it happened exactly as I had seen it. The only difference I can recall is that the square in front of the church appeared about one and a half to two times deeper than it actually is, almost as if viewed through the wrong end of binoculars.

The other visions also occurred exactly as I had seen them: Siglinde and I separated about five weeks later, and she then got together with Christian, whom I had seen with her on the platform above the lake. About three months later, I learned that Melanie was pregnant, and she later had the child I had seen in her arms. I was also able to stop using cannabis relatively quickly, just as I had promised to the luminous mist.

This experience led to long-term changes in my outlook on life, including increased reflection on meaning, personal responsibility, and lifestyle changes. It also brought periods of inner conflict and emotional challenges.
